Functions by MWO™
From the start our primary goal has been to develop numerical solutions and innovative technologies to minimise uncertainty in velocity modelling and depth conversion procedures. In total, we have now developed over 60 new proprietary technologies which contribute to minimising uncertainty. Our secondary objective is to make the application intuitive to allow rapid and highly accurate results; even to new and infrequent users.
A leading proprietary technology Functions by MWOtm delivers precise coefficients for large range of functions, but most importantly the function Instantaneous velocity vs. depth, or VoK. This can be achieved for normal sedimentation; structurally inverted sedimentation, and negative VoK in prograding sediments. This can be achieved highly accurately for all well types, even where we have no velocity or calibration survey for deviated and horizontal wells.
Several of the most widely used of our innovative technologies are utilised in velocity function modelling, to allow VelocityManager to achieve the highest standards. In particular, MWO™ allows the solution of coefficients, even under the most challenging of circumstances. The core well data function of velocity modelling is Instantaneous Velocity vs. depth, often referred to simply as VoK. Now widely acclaimed, the MWO™ approach has dramatically changed formerly held views, and is widely accepted in the industry.

Structurally inverted areas have a K value = 0 where there is no relationship between present day depth of burial and velocity.
On continental margins where we commonly encounter prograding sediments, it is common to measure a negative K value , where there is a negative acceleration of K value. here we have K= -0.1476 Vo =7615 ft/sec.
The Function VoK is applied to a statistically significant data set where 342 wells are spread across an area of over 35,000 sq. Km. K=.2939 and Vo = 3969 m/sec. The wells are accurately predicted despite the large spread of the wells.
