VelocityManager II

Well velocity function modelling

Function modelling has now reached a high level of accuracy with VelocityManagerII. This is achieved through the careful use of sophisticated numerical processes designed to minimise uncertainty. Application of the functions is facilitated through the Workflow Manager, making the comparison, selection, quality control, and application of the processes very user friendly to the analyst. Multiple scenarios are fully supported to allow the comparison of various functions, or parameters.

Careful comparison of functions reveals the more effective function for the velocity environment. For example, Both functions V0K (Instantaneous Velocity vs. Depth) MWO™ and Mid Point Depth vs. interval velocity functions endeavour to predict interval velocity as a function of depth of burial, honouring the physical principle that increased depth of burial goes hand in hand with increased density and velocity. The assumptions and mathematics behind each function are quite different, as are their limitations. In practice a comparison will readily identify how each can predict the controlling well data.

Intelligent selection of the function parameters will be set by default, though the quality control and changing of all parameters is easily accessible through the refinement dialogue box. All processing parameters are written to a report ready prepared for your word processor. Detailed quality control and interactive editing of the "minor" spatial component of the velocity field is readily accessible, for the ultimate refinement of the function.
